Relink a connection when it says Needs a new sign-in. Relinking keeps the connection, its devices, their places, your access and your shares. Removing it and adding it again does not.
Before you start
- You need the Manage IoT Connections right.
- Have the same vendor account ready. A relink must use the account the connection was made with.
Relink
- Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Connections. To see only the connections that need it, choose the button in the strip at the top, such as Fix 1 sign-in.
- On the connection's card, choose Sign in again. The button appears only when the connection needs a new sign-in.
- Finish the step the vendor needs:
- For a vendor sign-in, choose the button named for the vendor (for example Continue to Enphase; for Home Assistant, Sign in), sign in and approve there, and you come straight back.
- For a key or token, enter the new value and choose Test and link. The form opens with your current settings filled in, and a stored value you leave blank is kept.
- The vendor's own test runs first. Nothing is saved unless it passes.
Result
The health returns to Healthy and the devices work again. Choose Sync devices to look for anything new.
Google Home and Apple Home are relinked on the phone, not here. In KamoMobile, under On this phone, a new phone shows Relink Google Home on this phone; on the phone that already links it, choose Relink on this phone on the Google Home screen. For Apple Home, choose Relink this iPhone on the Apple Home screen. See How to Link Google Home or Apple Home from Your Phone.
If it doesn't work
- "That is a different account from the one this connection was made with." (or, after a vendor sign-in, "That is a different account from the one linked."): sign in with the original account. To use another account, remove the connection and add a new one.
- "The connection test failed, so nothing was saved." (after a vendor sign-in) or a test message on the form (for a key or token): the vendor rejected the new details. Check them at the vendor and try again.
- "Access was not granted, so nothing was linked.": the approval was declined at the vendor. Start again from Sign in again and approve.
- "The sign-in didn't finish. Try again.": the round trip to the vendor did not complete. Start again from Sign in again.
- See Fixing a Connection Problem.
